Quick Observation
There was a surprising lack of natural avalanches, cracking, or whumphs at Groundhog/Prosperpine in Barkerville today. Despite this, we were very careful not to let the 50 untouched snow and sunshine lure us out into steep terrain because it remains PRIMED for human triggering. Instead, we had an awesome time playing on small slopes, riding the deep trees and meadow skipping through trackless areas. Later in the day, we talked to a group who triggered a sizeable avalanche in the Prosper Bowl. Everyone was ok but it was a good reminder that even without signs of instability these tricky weak layers can be dangerous.
