Quick Observation

Toured around the north side of the Owls and then up the Weart Glacier before turning back down the Wedge Glacier to Wedgemount Lake. Isothermal mush to about 1800m then becoming more supportive with a crust. Above 2000m a skiff of new snow made travel a bit more pleasant. High ridgetop winds all day off cook, Weart, wedge, etc. Watched two large sluff-alanches rip down the owls couloirs. Big powder clouds but not much actually hitting the fan below. Seemed like just mega spindrift from the winds up high. Weart glacier was very wind affected and firm (good travel). Huge avalanche cycle from during the storm on all north facing slopes including a massive avalanche off the lookers right side of Wedge NF (photo attached) and the entire NF between parkhurst and rethel.
