Quick Observation

Spent the day on and around the Matier glacier. Almost entirely supportive wind affected conditions, with some breakable crust(5cm ski pen), and sastrugi. Most crevasses appear bridged, the bergshrund at the bottom of Matter NW face is filled in. Midday solar radiation warmed exposed S faces, minor snowballing in the Aussie couloir. Isothermic towards the very bottom on the descent. The Stonecrop Glacier, although drastically more filled in than 2 weeks ago, still has several exposed crevasses, and more exposed rock than recent years. Once again, firm supportive, wind affected. Evidence of a large(2.5-3) slide from last weeks warm event out the bottom. Otherwise no evidence of recent avalanche activity since the recent large warming event. Made good use of our ski crampons. Poor ski conditions, excellent views.
