Island Alpine Guides AST at Washy
info,
Sunday 22nd December, 2024 12:00PM
Snowing all day with freezing level steady around 1100m. Winds gusting strong at ridge top and starting to create slabs in exposed areas with a little cracking though one could easily imagine how much deeper and more reactive slabs would be getting in the alpine. 15cm of new snow by the end of our day around 15:00. With storm snow coming in warm it is bonding quite readily to the crust. No results from snowpack tests below tree line and no reactivity from skiing or testing steeper features.
Island Alpine Guides operates courses and trips on private land adjacent to Mount Washington Alpine Resort under and agreement with Mosaic Forest Management.
