Grey Day
Kootenay Boundary

Chilly grey day up high, with just enough visibility to get some good turns in. Had to play the aspect up higher as the thin (~2cm) breakable sun crust on steeper South facing slopes made skiing tricky with early season legs and lots of ground cover to avoid....
Fairly healthy early season snowpack, up to 120cm ~2100m. Appears to be settled and right-side up, with not much cohesion (=nice pow turns) in the upper 15-30cm and some surface faceting at higher elevations on Polar aspects. Due south has a thin sun crust (1-2cm) that was breakable and made for awkward but not impossible skiing. Only observations on South were between 2200m and 1900m.
