Panorama Ridge

Banff Yoho Kootenay

Skied Panorama Ridge on Sunday. There were about four other parties out there at the same time we were, and evidence of many other parties the day before. The uptrack is mostly well set in and in good condition, but a few spots are getting slippery. We skied the SW facing slope of East Panorama Ridge. There were no signs of recent slab formation, but the top section is still wind blasted and very hard. The main slope is well-skied, so there is no remnant of the old, deeper issues and no new slab formation. Apart from the old tracks underlying the thin layer of powdery fresh snow, the skiing was consistent and pleasant. The weather was perfect - calm, blue skies, and moderate temperatures (about -5C, but cooler up top).
