April Snow in Crowsnest!

Today in the Crowsnest Pass we found 15 - 20 cm of low-density snow over....take a guess!! Melt freeze crust. Once again it felt a lot more like winter today than late April. Temperatures were cold to start the day hovering around -5 as we started out. Light wind and cloudy kept it cool for longer but that sun does have a punch to it. We didn't see it often but when it did peak out it warmed the surface snow really quickly. This coupled with warming temperature through the day rapidly settled the new snow. There were numerous small size 1 dry loose avalanches out of steep terrain in the morning. The road access was pretty good but we were thankful for the new snow as it covered some of the bare patches on the sled in.
