Quick Observation

Today in the bullmoose riding area we had very chilly start to our day -30 when we left the trucks. Luckily the sun was packing some heat and warmed our day up pretty quick. We dug a quick pit on a 32 degree slope below treeline on a north west facing slope. We had a shallow snow pack here at 130cm. We had a reactive layer that was down 45cm reacting in the hard range of our compression test with sudden collapse results on a facet crust layer. We did a extended column test but could not get this layer to propagate across. Observed some old crowns from slides in the past few days on south and south east facing slopes in the alpine below ridges and cliff bands.
