Quick Observation

We were exploring more than skiing west of Log Cabin today. We dug a pit at approximately 1,150m elevation on a wind loaded knoll on low angle terrain. Three compression tests all produced a fracture 30cm down between C11 to C18. No reaction on the December crusts which were about 80cm down at this location. A breakable crust made skiing very challenging below treeline. We did not venture into the alpine due to poor visibility and increasing cloudiness. We observed some debris in the alpine on the north face of Log Cabin, likely from the natural avalanche cycle of Monday Jan 15. Temperature -11C with light flurries throughout the day.
