Quick Observation

We went sled skiing on Sale with the objective of skiing lower angle terrain and investigating how this week’s storm snow is bonding to the weak layers below. Today was the first day in a while with good visibility and we were surprised to see no recent natural avalanche activity in that area. We stuck to mellow terrain, but observed cracking in the storm snow on steep rolls or pillows in the trees. We got no alarming results in snowpack tests, but remain cognizant that these tests are small pieces in a very large and complex puzzle. The sun came out but did not effect the snow and temperatures remained relatively cool. Overall a great day to be outside enjoying some sunshine and mellow pow skiing!
