We skinned up Log Cabin Mt this afternoon. The temps warmed significantly overnight: -1.6 C in the alpine (1200m) at 1pm, a balmy +0.5 C at the truck at 2pm. We were on the leading edge of a big warm storm coming in off the coast. The snow hadn't started yet, but there were strong blustery southerly winds. We saw surface hoar getting blown to shreds today along our skin track. Generally snow depth averages around 150cm at tree line. Snow surface was a mix of rime crust and soft wind slab. Skiing is variable.
