Quick Observation
We did an AST 1 field day at Lost Boys Pass with Stay Wild Backcountry. Temperatures were mild today, but below freezing, it snow on and off through the day and there was a light, southwest wind. Around 1750m we observed 15-20cm of recent storm snow on top of a crust. The crust was around 20cm thick at 1750m and sat over a well consolidated mid-pack. Mid-pack appears to have gotten moist with previous rain and warm temps. It seems it is beginning to dry out. An older crust was observed 90cm down in an area with a snow depth of 150cm, at 1750m. There was a thin layer of softer snow above the crust, this snow was just barely moist. No results on compression tests.
