Completed column test on a NE aspect at 1830m, snow depth was 185cm which produced a sudden collapse on a surface hoar layer approx. 35 cm down, did not replicate the results on a second test. Noted a surface hoar layer 18cm down, fist density above which we suspected to be the March 11 layer. Surface hoar layer 35 cm down as seen in the column test was 4 finger density above. Completed a deep tap test at the same location in hopes to see results associated with the deep persistent slab issue. Noticed basal facet layer for 25 cm down from 160 cm in the snowpack. Basal facets were noticeably rounding and stacking. Could not produce results from test.
