Awesome day of skiing at Rainy Hollow with the whole Haines pass to ourselves! 30ish cms of fast and light pow on top of medium density wind crust. Test column on sw slope near ridge top (1100m) produced sudden planar release at ~45cms at h2 and ~55cms at h3. A second pit had similar results at m7 and h5. The weak layers were not easily identifiable until the column test was conducted. Snowpack varied from 130 - 230 cms. We stuck to slopes <30 and generally south facing and the turns were hero quality! What a way to ring in the new year.
