Afternoon observations at 1500-1650 meters, -1.2C in South aspect and -3.7C in North aspect. Some moderate N’ly gusts transported snow at times.
We didn’t observe any signs of instability today on N’ly aspects which skied really good in between 1800-1500m. Solar aspects had several Sz 1 point releases on steep terrain. Surface was mostly loose, unconsolidated snow with some isolated areas that had wind affect. We dug at 1680m on a 30 degree slope facing North and had moderate resistant results on both the mid-february and mid-january MFcr/Fc layers. We didn’t get any propagation on these layers. CTM 14,16 (RP) down 32 on 1mm Facets. CTM 16,18 (RP) down 73 on 1mm Facets. Results may be quite different in higher elevation where a more cohesive slab would propagate.
