Quick report

Cracking
specific

Lots of recent avalanche activity. Increased NW winds Sunday night wrecked havoc across the area, likely covering many of the natural avalanches in the upper elevations that occured during peak snowfall with the recent storm cycle on 1/12. Observed one significant wind slab from strong wind event 1/14-1/15. Snowpack varies significantly thanks to strong winds. Some slopes are scoured almost bare while others contain over 4 feet of snow. In general, the December drought layer is buried 40-60cm between 8000-9500'. Incoming snowfall for our next cycle will fall on mostly wind scoured surfaces and should bond decently. The main concern will be adding additional load to the weak December drought layer (1/4). Slopes over 30 degrees will remain dangerous.

Recent wind slab avalanches from Sunday night. Cracking on wind loaded slopes.
