Quick Observation
Ski quality at Seaton was good on mellow slopes but sluffed easily on steeper slopes with a firm bed surface around 10-20cms below. We arrived to light snowfall and estimate 5cms had fallen overnight. Temperature was below zero but warm. Winds picked up at ridgetop, blowing from the southwest. Visibility was very poor in the morning but cleared up toward the end of the day. When we get got visibility in the afternoon we noticed on steep north aspect slopes recent snow and wind deposits had sluffed. In some cases there were more distinct crowns that appeared to be shallow but wide. We heard a large whumph on a lee slope in the alpine.
