We hit the Renshaw for its opening day of grooming. Riding around we saw a few small windslab avalanches in very steep north facing alpine terrain that had entrained the light snow. Riding quality was amazing with over the handlebars powder almost everywhere you went. It didn’t take very long to realized that, like everywhere else, this seemly deep snow was full of rocks. By 11:00 we had decides to head out but even riding cautiously we didn’t make it to the grooming without breaking an A Arm. When we finally limped it back to the cabin we heard stories of broken sleds and close calls from everyone we talked to.
