Decker Finger Chutes

msulkers, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM
<p>Evidence of size 2 avalanche on W asp at @2300m near Finger Chutes. Crown est 75m wide and up to 1+m crown. Slide ran est 110m downslope. Not obvious whether Fingers slid and have reloaded or whether full load awaits. Moderate SE winds transporting significant snow and creating moderately stiff windslabs on W and NW asp. On test slope at 2250m W asp just below ridgetop some whumpfing and test columns sheered down 15 and 35 while isolating column. Failure on layer within storm snow (susp. Wind shift?) And over a stiff wind crust. (See second photo) Pure south skiing best with thinner snow cover and far fewer windslabs...</p>
