Quick report

Warm temps, wind and rain/snow mix  accelerated melting in the northern Salt River Range. Grooming has ceased and access is In limbo...too little snow for snowmobiles and too much ice, snow and mud for cars and trucks. (BoxY is closed for the season now).

Surfaces are scoured down to previous crusts with ~4" of new snow at 8,200'. Wind slabs that avalanched during the previous snow/wind event are apparent but partially covered by weekend snow. Some new slabs have formed in the crust and should be watched as incoming very warm temps arrive. Much of the recent snow was impacted by the heat already but higher elevations may not freeze overnight later this week resulting in the potential for larger wet avalanches.

Old, natural wind slabs in very steep terrain, likely failed last Saturday.
