Quick Observation

Really great day out at Jubilee Bowl. We walked up the south aspect of the bowl. Anything south facing was sun-affected and really crusty. Skied around the top of the bowl to the north aspect. North facing slopes were a lot better. Snow was consolidated powder with a bit of wind-affect, but mostly really soft and fun! Skied the steep trees off to skier's left, snow sluffed a little while skiing but nothing notable.

Snowpack

Dug a pit at the top of the north aspect. Snow depth was about 90cms. Pit test yielded a couple small fractures at a depth of about 10cms after four strikes from the elbow. The top 10cms formed a solid block that we were able to pull off, but the fractures formed mainly from the compression, and didn't cause any issues while skiing. 80cms down there was a weak layer of sugary, frosty snow. It reacted after 10 hard strikes from the shoulder and we were able to pull off the entire column as a block. Might be something to look at later, but caused no issues today.
