Quick Observation
Great day in the Gorge Dec 7. Lots of new (much needed) SNOW, more falling today Dec 8th. Ridge top had wind slab formation in exposed area. Temps held steady between 0deg at the trucks and -4 at the summit from 17km. 20-40cm over a firm snow pack. Crust is buried at lots of different elevations and aspects. Skied all slopes, all aspects, only saw lots of skier triggered sluffing in steep terrain on all aspects. Expect it to slab up quickly with mild temps. The riding was challenging down low as the snow got heavier. Concerns will be the buried crust and surfacehoar that was on a variety of aspects and elevations. It will be heads up hockey for a few days. LOTS of exposed hazards still exist.
