Around treeline, the snow in the bowl feature was slightly wind stiffened with ripples on the surface in some areas, but still provided decent skiing. Alpine terrain was visibly wind affected and we avoided steep, wind loaded features.
We dug around 1900m on a NW facing slope. 30 cm deep we found a couple of crumbly crusts (formed during warming events in mid and late January) with ~10cm of facets between them. Our snowpack tests produced collapses on the facets between these crusts, and did not show propagation. We also heard a whumpf as we walked through some low angle terrain around 2000m, which we suspect to have been a collapse in the same layer.
The snowpack below was very well consolidated. The Dec crust was down 120 cm and total snow depth was 230 cm.
