Gin laps

O_Kirkwood, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

Hiking up to do a couple short laps on the lower half of Gin we noticed a lot of whumpfing. We stuck to the trees and mellower slopes to avoid as much risk as possible. Skiing was very average for what would usually be found on the North Shore. Although the snow was very heavy, it was also very soft which made for a lot of comfortable bails. On our way out noticed a couple slides on the North side of the lake. Both within 1-1.5, crowns were approximately 20-30 cm (hard to tell because we didn’t go up there. Trail on the way up is definitely a lot more filled in since the last storm cycle. Solid ice has turned to clumpy sticky snow but not quite everything is completely filled in yet. Once up to the halfway point we didn’t come across any creeks that weren’t able to be skinned over.
