<p>Skied the north aspect of the southern unnamed peak on Hector South Ridge and then bumped back up to the saddle to ski back out to the road.
It seems that the crust in the forest has mostly broken down, which has created some bad access in/out of the area compared to the last couple of weeks. The snow became more supportive around 2200m. Windward areas are wind hammered, sheltered areas hold great snow. Widespread surface hoar is growing. The north aspect off the peak skied good but there was still plenty of shallow pockets, most of the blown snow seemed to have landed in the direct lee or further down into the trees, with the transition from low alpine to high treeline feeling the most shallow. Several very dense cornices had broken off in previous days but their impact did not trigger the slopes below.</p>
