No Better Way To Burn Off a Turkey

Today we went to McLatchie to look for signs of instability and wind effect in the Treeline and Alpine.
We found no new avalanches, but we did see wind scouring on W aspects and actively observed wind loading on E and SE aspects.
20 cm of light soft snow overlies a well-settled snowpack. We did find a solar crust down 20 cm on steeper southerly aspects. We got stubborn results with no propagation on that interface. We did find the Dec 6th Surface hoar (SH) layer but it was unreactive to all tests. It was 0 degrees at the staging area and -2 at 1950m. It was snowing lightly (bring it on!), and was a pleasant day to be outside :)
It's worth noting that we found very icy conditions at the staging area (see picture) but once we gained elevation the surface snow improved greatly.
