Sledding into Lucille, we were uncertain about the layers in the upper snowpack so we started the day with extra caution. Before committing to riding, we dug a few profiles at Treeline to check for melt-freeze crusts and surface hoar. We did not see these layers here. In the Alpine we saw easterly winds reverse loading westerly slopes. There were windslabs on both southeast and northwest aspects. We chose to spend the day riding powder in sheltered Treeline terrain.
