It was a nice day in the mountains with views for miles. There was no new avalanche activity in the Mear Lake area.
On a ridge feature at 2400 m elevation, we found isolated wind-affected snow 5 to 10 cm deep making for some tricky skiing but not much of an avalanche problem.
The snowpack depth in this area averages around 70 cm. The snowpack is generally uniform from top to bottom. Near the base of the snowpack, we found moist snow.
Mild temperatures (-4.5) calm winds and a mix of sun and clouds made the OK skiing better. Still plenty of rocks and stumps to be aware of.
