GD

Surprisingly "good" conditions for GD yesterday. -18 @ the parking lot in the morning with considerable rise in temps with elevation and through the day ending at -7 at the car in the PM. Skies were clear and winds were calm to light all day. Most of the open alpine is wind hammered but areas of great skiing are still available on the right features and supportive TL and BTL. Couloir itself was predominantly very firm but super edgable with great bootpacking and some "lovely" skiing lower down (depending on what good skiing is to you). The top 20m is rock hard side slipped ski compaction. Signs of solar effect throughout the day with several sloughs/loose avalanches from steep rocky south facing features. 1 x old sz 1 windslab in the fan of adjacent couloir. 3days + old. A few other groups getting after it but generally quite a quiet Sunday in the sun.
