Did a day snowshoe up to Joffre in some beautiful weather. By chance, at the third lake we saw an avalanche cloud just below the Matier Glacier. After it settled we got a decent view of the runout path. A piece of the very bottom of the glacier carved off and caused a point release avalanche. It was far in the distance so I guess it ran at least ~60m and was ~30m wide at it widest part. Aspect was NW facing and presumably caused by solar radiation.

Avalanche Conditions
Rapid temperature rise to near zero degrees or wet surface snow.
Weather Conditions
Warm, Sunny.
