Crowfoot Glades

<p>Poor snowpack and not so great skiing. Beautiful trip out for scenery as you have views for most of the way. We had an average snowpack depth of 80cm, of which the bottom 40-50cm was facets. There is a slab near the surface that is about 10-30cm thick but mostly non-supportive to skis. Felt whoomphing and cracking while skinning up. The tails of our skis often sank on both the way up and down. Took it slow going down because of the sudden sinking and because of the rock sharks lurking just below the surface. Avoided the big alpine slope and sparse trees skier's left of the forest because of the shallow and varying depth of the snowpack. It looked like it would not have taken much to trigger those basal facets in that big alpine feature. Yikes...</p>
