Snowpack

Observation at ~2100m on 35° slope on N/NE aspect this morning. 3 separate storm slabs each ~10cm sheared dynamically on CTP1,3, and 5 respectively. Persistent weak layer failed on CTP13 to ~180cm depth(!!!). We also observed crowns along the N/NE on similar elevations and angles indicating the 3 storm layers from Friday failing naturally in class 1.5-2 slabs. Propagation and run-outs were obscured by low overcast. Results were consistent and repeatable. Approached via the west shoulder and then opted to ski back down the way we had come. We encountered several other parties on the way down who ended up doing the same. The only image taken was of me holding the column that slid on 13. The current considerable forecast does not seem to be taking into account the PWL.
