Quick Observation

Expecting windy & bluebird but got stormy and calm! Rode a few chutes at Fraser. Similar to other observations we found unsettled powder on top of a very hard crust. It was difficult to determine where skiing would be good as the hard, featured surface was well hidden beneath the powder. Still got in some fun, spicy turns. We felt it warm up quite a bit in the afternoon and noticed it having the effect of softening the crust in some areas, though not to the extent that it broke under skier’s weight (went from bulletproof to breakable with a good pole probe). We dug a quick pit in the morning on the chute above the cut line at ~1100m. HS ~310cm & no results of note. We didn’t go much above that elevation as the ski quality was going phooey.
