We got out for a day with the team at yukon heli skiing to get an overview of the greater whitepass area. What we found was a lot of wind effect on many aspects and drainages, an average snow depth of 300cm in the high alpine and upper treeline. We took a generally conservative approach since it seems like every valley, drainage and aspect was highly variable in snow conditions. There are lingering windslabs out there, and we backed off terrain that had drum-like or hollow sounds. It was perfectly clear, and no wind in places we were, alpine temperatures were as high as -8 and shady north slopes were as cold as -17. An awesome day out seeing the mountains, Thanks Yukon Heli ski!
