Arrived at Whimster hut (1550m) Monday afternoon. Temp was already rising, however there was wet snow falling that continued into the evening, which briefly changed to rain and then stopped before the sun rose. Rapid warming occurred Tuesday to at least 1860m, tree bombs everywhere.
Skied the NW glades back to the hut, dug a pit on the way down (results below), and observed a wet slab avalanche on the opposite slope across the drainage (topo screen shot of start zone). Snow was skiing like decent spring mash potatoes.
