Quick Observation

Dug pit above 1700 meters on south facing 36 degree slope. Found an ice crust down 15cm about 3cm thick and one down at 40cm close to 1cm thick. Had reaction twice on CTH 28 down 40cm resistant planer. DTTH28 down 120cm had a sudden collapse on depth hoar that went to surface. HS165 snow pack was generally good on this pit/site but with the crust down at 40cm be careful on south facing slopes or wind loaded slopes. Also there is a chance of a full snow pack release down to surface due to the lack of binding with surface.
