Oscar peak area

3 days of checking things out in Oscar peak area. Very low snow at cabin elevation made for tough skinning below the trees. Crusty with blueberry bush surface. Many creeks to cross and alders to navigate. Open areas provided cold boot top fluff over a very supportive crust. Low density top sheet did not whumph or crack in up meadow and provided nice turns on way down. Old low elevation slab seen (see pic) and several old filling in crowns seen in high alpine north facing slopes and a few small old small slab crowns seen in lower moraine bowl. No wind effect at elevations traveled (up to 950 m's) but high peak spindrift seen on last day. Also surface hoar growing to > 10 mm in sheltered ares with clear skies.
