Today’s mission: slog through foggy alpine soup and squishy snow to give the Summit Creek weather station a little rime-removal spa treatment. Temps at highway level (880 m) hovered above freezing, while Summit WX (1132 m) stayed just cold enough to slap a thin melt–freeze crust on the surface. Moderate south winds did their own housekeeping and stripped trees clean of snow. We never got eyes on the upper alpine, and wind slabs are likely to have formed on north-facing lee features.
