Went out to ski some fresh snow on some moderate slopes, found the higher elevation snow quite windblown. Fresh wind slabs. Toured into the top of Elevators. Found some old crowns near the top, size 1.5 I decided to dig a full snow profile pit to the ground. Curious to see why the area has had more glide avalanches this season. The base of the snow pack is very settled and strong. No sign of depth hoar. I suspect the glides have been failing due to the ground composition more than the snowpack. I found a couple crusts in the upper snowpack 60 and 80cm down. Found a sudden planar ECT 15 at 80cm. This was enough for me to not ski this slope which has a convexity and trees at the bottom.
