Hanging Lake

evanskieran, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

Good skiing in the morning. Warming by midday. Cooling off again around 3pm. Rain crust not noticeable when skiing but still present on SE aspects skied above the lake. Skiing/skinning is still fairly sporty with open creeks and very thin base below 1100m, above that it's no problemo. Multiple shooting cracks through upper 20cm of storm snow. Minor sluffing on small convexities. No avalanches observed but we couldn't see past our ski tips... Test pit @ 1500m, SE aspect above Hanging Lake. HS 195cm. Rain crust down around 65cm. CTE 5 (BRK), 7 (BRK) down 15-20cm with the overnight storm snow. CTM 15 (SP), 13 (SP) down 65 on rain crust.
