Rohr conditions

<p>Skiied around Rohr lake trees and up to the summit. Saturday saw about 10 cm of new snow, with wind in the alpine and overcast skies, with cold temperatures. Sunday was clear and temperatures stayed below freezing. In the protection of the trees the snow was amazing, dry, up to knee deep and stayed that way until the end of the day Sunday Jan 9th. No wind slabs to speak of, nor instabilities noted. In the alpine, the wind had affected all new snow that fell on Saturday and wind slabs were present everywhere. Quick hand pits on the way to Rohr at 2300m on SW aspects show SP releases down 10-25 cm depending on specific areas. We opted to stay away from avalanche prone slopes on the way down from the summit and enjoyed some pretty good snow despite the wind effect. Some big cornices have formed on ridges too. On Sunday, on sunny (steep) aspects there was evidence of warming and plenty of point releases. We minimize exposure to those on Sunday. Overall great riding quality and glad to see the temperatures didn't rise as much as in other areas. </p>
