Warm But Dry (pow)

South Rockies

Headed into the Lynx Creek // Snowshoe Creek drainage today (awesome grooming thank u very much @crowsnowriders !!) From mid-morning we had spectacular clear sky and pretty soon we saw moist snow and some roller-balling on south facing slopes showing us that the Mid-March-Almost-Spring-Sun has power now and is doing its thing …. however, a cool breeze at ridgetop at 2000 m kept things from getting too out of hand and we saw no Natural avalanches, even up into the Alpine. Even so, like yesterday with all the scarey indicators, we took care to pay attention to our slope angle (kept ‘er mellow, under 30 deg), and stayed out from under any overhead hazard on our approach and ski out. The snowpack was pretty thin throughout the area, but we did manage to find a North facing low-angle gulley for our descent …. Nice and dry out of the sun.
