Quick Observation

Snowpit results on north aspect @ 1870 m at/below treeline showed 20 cm to 30 cm of storm snow on top of a surface hoar layer. Reactive at ECT5 (easy). Very pronounced surface hoar layer roughly 50/60 cm down with large facets that was reactive at ECT15 (moderate). Pretty consolidated below. Lots of evidence of storm slab activity on steep, sheltered, north aspects. We observed storm slabs in steep, moderately dense trees that were skier triggered the day before. Storm slab was still reactive the day we were out on steep, convex slopes. We skied mellow slopes. Powder snow but heavy.
