We went up to Crowfoot Glades to gather information about the snowpack, riding mellow slopes and the creek gully down. Skin track up to Crowfoot Glades was well established. We saw no signs of recent avalanche activity. Dug a pit on N 28° in TL 2213m: CTE 6(SP), 5(SP) at 80cm on FC Dec 17, CTM 18(BRK), 14(BRK) at 30cm on DH/FC Nov 16. Some nice turns in TL but the gully/creek was tracked out.
13cm new/drifted snow on top of 11cm 1F WSL. These overlay the Dec 17 FC at 80cm, which produced easy sudden results (CTE 6(SP), 5(SP)), and 19cm of RGs (1F). These sit on top of FC and DH with hardness decreasing to the ground (4F-F) and moderate results (CTM 18(BRK), 14(BRK) at 30cm). There was a strong temperature gradient in the upper and middle snowpack, and a weak one between 0-50cm.
