Yesterday was so much fun that we came back today. Armed with working bindings we were planning to do the purple-hero loops but hit spooky conditions above the treeline. Snow was powder above consolidated snow at treeline and below. Bottomless facets beyond this point higher with a loosely bonded layer on top of a slight crust or hard layer - yikes. We didn't dig a pit to get a real profile as it was colder than a penguins nuts on the shady side of an iceberg. Felt very uncomfortable as soon as we left the treeline with skis sinking easily and top layer shifting in 1ft blocks. Turned around to ski the slide path and side trees again. Great snow to be found below the alpine in some places... ski out is a luge run now with a lot of fun turns and small jumps.
