Tracking progress of near surface facetting in snowpack above most recent crust above 1900m on north asp. At 2050m crust is supportive and covered by 30-39cm of Fist to 4Finger density facetted snow. Ski pen to 25cm while climbing, deepest near ridge crests. Temp gradient is promoting further facetting, despite atmospheric temperature inversion at this elevation. Repeatable SP results in test pit at 2050m, N asp, 36 degree loaded site with 145cm snowpack. CTH (21/22) down 33 on decomposing forms directly over crust. Skied to 45 degrees including short convexities with only sluffing. Suspect slab potential in higher elevation sites. Pinwheeling and small wet releases noted on steeper, shallower solar aspects to 2300m after 1300 hours. CAA professional.
