Quick Observation

Great skiing, great conditions, but hazard was pretty high given the recent massive loading on this already weak layer.

Incident

We did a pit test at the top of our run to make sure it was safe. But there had been a lot of wind loading so no significant results came back on our compression test, instead it seemed that everything had been blown part-way down the hill into a more sheltered zone. Crown was about 70cm-90cm deep, about 5-10m wide and the run out was very short, probably about 10-15m. It exposed the crust that we managed to get in our pit at about 66cm. Idiotic mistakes were made. But lessons were learnt. No one was hurt, just a little more humbled.
