Big Simpsons

Skier triggered size 1.5 in the ice couloir on Hudson bay mountain above Big Simpsons gulch. SE aspect. Windloaded slab near top of couloir, crown approx. 50cm at thickest - 15cm along the sides. Skier carried a few meters and managed to self-arrest along the shallow side of the slab at the edge of couloir. There was no evidence of whumpfing cracking or slab propagation or reactivity before the incident. Windblown snow near entrance had a strange quality of stickiness, firmness with good penetration.
