Nice day riding the trees on Narao shoulder, with 30 other like minded individuals :) Temperatures were cold, -16 at 12:30, 2150 m. Skies were initially overcast, but cleared to few clouds in the afternoon. Winds were generally light out of the NE, with some moderate gusts. We did not note any ongoing wind transport, but the snow in exposed areas at and above treeline was wind effected with signs of loading in lee features. HS was variable, between 140 to 185 cm, PF of 40cm. Very quick test profile at 2200m on sheltered NW aspect ECTN down 34cm at interface between last week's storms. No other results to note.
The storm snow seemed to be well bonded in our location. We were concerned about the deeper instabilities and were generally conservative in our line choice, but did ski open test slopes up to 40° in the trees with no results. We also did not experience any cracking or whumphing. Overall a great snow and a great day.
