Vantage Ridge

peternave, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

Light, boot top snow in open areas, much less in the mature trees along the ascent. ENE wind increased from light to moderate at treeline through the day. Our drop in point to the South Side runs was slightly windward and exposed parts of the uptrack were blowing in between laps. Non-wind loaded terrain had a soft slab (very soft even) in the top 10cm and less dense snow below. Ski cuts were surprisingly not reactive on steep convex rolls but skiers following our uptrack triggered some slides. It is unclear if they had a size 2 skier accidental or if the steepest terrain in the main bowl of our run naturaled, but we observed sz 2 debris which ran out of the clouds and onto a bench at TL. We only noticed it on our last lap along the trees and in the low visibility the debris did not look like it had the day's storm snow on it. Good skiing all the way out to the car.
